Broccoli ; this word came from the "Broccolo" an Italian plural, which means "Flowering crest of Cabbage"

It belongs to the Cabbage family and its large flowering head is eaten as a vegetable. This vegetable is highly rich in nutrients and tasty in taste.  

Broccoli can be eaten as Salad and by cooking with other vegetables, this is a super vegetable with many health benefits.

Broccoli; Super Vegetable for Health

Broccoli can be consumed raw, as it has more positive impacts on your body of eaten raw or uncooked, but there is only one problem you may face is, to digest it. So, the best option is to steam it, steamed broccoli is the best to eat.


  • Broccoli is full of calcium, iron, protein, fiber, Vitamin A and Vitamin C which help us to prevent many diseases and help to recover health problems.
  • Presence of Fiber, fatty acidsand vitamins in Broccoli helps to regulate blood pressure and reduce bad cholesterol which protects blood vessels in our body from stroke or Heart attack and that's why it is called "Tonic of Heart".
  • Eating Broccoli will also help our Nervous System to work properly and improve the functioning of Brain.
  • Broccoli is also known as "Skin Food" - It contains all essential Vitamins, mineral and Beta carotene, that provide elasticity and glow to your skin and make you look younger.
  • If you wish to lose weight, Broccoli will help you. Including Broccoli in your diet will reduce excess fat, flush out toxins and make your body slim and Healthy.


  • There is nothing like soup when you want something healthy and lighter. A bowl of  Broccoli soup is perfect after a hard day of work.
  • Preparation of Broccoli Soup; Add some Potatoes chopped in cubes, diced onion and a clove of Garlic into a pan with 2-3 cups of water in it.
  • Add some salt and put it on Flame for next 10 mins. to boil them.
  • Now add 200 gms of Broccoli Florets in it, give a stir and let them cook for another 5 mins.
  • When potatoes get soft and broccoli get cooked, turn off the Flame and allow the vegetable to cool down.
  • Till the vegetables getting cool, take a saucepan and add 1 cup of milk in it with 1 tbsp Corn flour, 1 Tsp butter.
  • Keep Stirring it continuously because as the milk thicken it start sticking in the sauce pan.
  • After sauce getting thick, turn off the flame and blend all the vegetables in a smooth puree that you boiled before with the help of hand-blender.
  • Pour the vegetable puree in the sauce you made, mix it well and bring it to a boil.
  • Pour the soup in a soup bowl, and garnish it with some cheese and Broccoli Florets.
  • Your Broccoli soup is ready to serve.

Just like having soup at breakfast, you can make salads and vegetable with broccoli such as -
  • Broccoli and cucumber salad with lemon and olive oil.
  • Broccoli, carrot and beetroot salad; with black pepper, mint and olive oil.
  • Broccoli garlic stir fry vegetable.
  • Broccoli and mushroom stir fry vegetable.
  • Broccoli salad dressing with mayonnaise.

Everything is up to you and your taste, you can add anything of your choice; dry fruits, heavy cream, chicken, eggs, etc. but at last with a combination of broccoli whatever you add will provide your body so many benefits, as we said earlier; "Broccoli is a super vegetable".
